A newspaper article in St. Louis Post-Dispatch Newspaper dated January 18, 1969 reported Funeral services for Ari L. Vico, a survivor of the Bataan Death March in world War II, were held Thursday at Epiphany of Our Lord Catholic Church, Smiley and Ivanhoe avenues. Burial was at Resurrection Cemetery.
Mr. Vico, 57f years old, died last Sunday at Veterans Hospital of a lung ailment contracted while held by the Japanese as a prisoner of war. He was in the old Army Air Corps and was captured after spending several months in the Philippine jungle as a guerrilla fighter.
Mr. Vico was a prisoner of war for three years and was one of the first servicemen freed when American forces retook Luzon. He was hospitalized for two years and discharged in 1948 as a staff sergeant. He retire because of illness two years ago from his job as a clerk with the St. Louis Board of Education.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Charlotte Vico, with whom he lived at 6310 Arsenal street; a son, Robert Vico; three sisters and two brothers.7
His funeral service was held on January 16, 1969 at Epiphany of Our Lord Catholic Church, St. Louis, Missouri.6 He was buried on January 16, 1969 in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Affton, St. Louis County, Missouri.68
