Msgr. Edward J. Deutschmann
     Edward Joseph Deutschmann was known as Reverend Msgr. professionally. Edward Joseph Deutschmann, son of John Henry Deutschmann and Hildagarde Marie Rekart, was born on October 24, 1926.
He lived with his parents, Hildagarde and John, in 1930 at Manchester Road in Des Peres, St. Louis County, Missouri.1
Edward was enumerated as the son of John Henry Deutschmann on the 1930 U. S. Census of Central Township, Des Peres, St. Louis County, Missouri. He was listed as a two-year-eight-old boy born in Missouri as were his parents.1
He lived with his parents, Hildagarde and John, in 1940 at Clayton Township in Des Peres, St. Louis County, Missouri.2
     Edward was enumerated as the son of John Henry Deutschmann on the 1940 U. S. Census for Clayton Township, Missouri. He was listed as a 13-year-old male born in Missouri. He had completed seventh grade.2 He presided at the marriage of Albert Wesley Linkogel and Marian Hildegarde Deutschmann on May 21, 1955 at St. Clement Catholic Church, Des Peres, St. Louis County, Missouri.3,4
Edward Joseph Deutschmann was a witness at the wedding of Frank E. Fillman and Josephine Antonia Deutschmann on October 1, 1955 at St. Clement Catholic Church, Missouri.5 He presided at the marriage of David Joseph Kelly and Virginia Marie Deutschmann on May 18, 1957 at St. Clement Catholic Church, Missouri.6,4

Edward performed the funeral service for Stephen Lyle Block, it was held on August 16, 1988 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Missouri, a memorial service.11 Reverend Msgr. Edward Joseph Deutschmann attended the 50th wedding anniversary party of Clarence John Deutschmann and Nora Marie McCarthy in July, 1990.15 He presided at the marriage of Dennis O'Neil and Judith Noreen Deutschmann on April 25, 1992 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Missouri.7,16

Edward died on August 21, 2007 in St. Louis County, Missouri, at age 80.17
His obituary was published in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Newspaper on August 25, 2007.17 His obituary stated:

Beloved son of the late John H. and Hilda (nee Rekart); dearest brother of Celeste Koebel (the late Roy), John H. Jr. (the late Delorus), the late Margaret, Virginia Kelly (the late David), Josephine Fillman (the late Frank), the late Charles (the late Marie), Marian Linkogel (the late Albert) and George L. (Marilyn), dear brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend to many.
Msgr. Deutschmann died of complications after open heart surgery. He was a Knight of Columbus member of Kirkwood Council 2117 and a Fourth Degree member of the St. Louis Assembly. He served as chaplain of both for many years. He has been a devoted priest for 55 years.

Monsignor Edward Deutschmann Pastor and teacher
Monsignor Edward Joseph Deutschmann, retired pastor and former teacher, died Tuesday (Aug. 21, 2007) at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur after complications from heart surgery. He was 80.
Monsignor Deutschmann was born in St. Louis and attended the old Euqene Coyle High School in Kirkwood. He entered the St. Louis Preparatory Seminary in St. Louis. He then undertook studies for the priesthood at Kenrick Seminary in St. Louis.
In 1952, he was ordained by Archbishop Joseph E. Ritter.
From 1952 to 1959, he served as an assistant pastor at St. Martin of Tours Church in Lemay; from 1967 to 1970, he was an administrator at St. Agnes Church in Bloomsdale, MO., where he also served as pastor from 1970 to 1971. From 1971 to 1977, he was pastor at St. Bernadette Church and from 1977 to 1981 at Most Precious Blood, both in Lemay. He served as pastor of St. Peter in Kirkwood from 1981 to 1996. He was senior associate pastor at St. James the Greater in St. Louis from 1996 to 1998 and at Mary Mother of the Church in Mattese, in south St. Louis County, from 1998 to 2005. He continued in residence there.
As an educator, he taught at Bishop DuBourg High School from 1956 to 1967 and at St. Joseph Regional High School in Farmington, Mo., from 1965 to 1967 (while continuing his duties at St. Pius X). From 1959 to 1967, he served as resident chaplain at St. Joseph Ursuline Novitiate in Festus.
He was named Prelate of Honor (monsignor) by Pope John Paul II in 1995.
Monsignor Deutschmann served as an adviser to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops Committee on priestly Life and Ministry from 1975 to 1978.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Mary, Mother of the Church Catholic Church, 5901 Kerth Road in South County, with a second visitation from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday at St. Peter Catholic Church, 243 West Argonne Drive, Kirkwood. he funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's. Interment will be at St. Peter Catholic Church Cemetery.
Among the survivors are two brothers, John H. Deutschmann Jr of Fenton and George L. Deutschmann of St. Louis County; four sisters, Celeste Koebel of Las Vegas, Virginia Kelly of Crestwood, Josephine Fillman of Manchester and Marian Linkogel of Fenton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society in care of St. Peter Catholic Church
