Father Francis Henry Blase Francis Blase spent his boyhood and early teens on his father's farm at Manchester and Woodlawn, St. Louis County.
He worked on farm for his parents at Manchester and Woodlawn for about 5 years. Then worked for his parents at the Westwood Grocery in Glendale for about 5 years.
Francis Blase entered the St. Louis Preparatory Seminary to study for the priesthood in September 1927 at the age of 24.
He was ordained a priest on June 7, 1941 after completing the 12 year Seminary Course. His Ordination took place at the St. Louis Cathedral. He was ordained by Archbishop Glennon who later became a Cardinal.
He offered his First Holy Mass in St. Monica's Church at Creve Coeur, Missouri. At the time his parents were living in that parish on Olive Street Road at Fern Ridge. The Ordination Dinner was held at Otz Dinner Inn on Craig Road with the courtesy of Father Hoeshen, pastor of St. Monica's. Father Elmer Behrman was toastmaster at the dinner. Father Steck gave the sermon at the Mass. There was a grand reception in the evening at St. Monica's Hall.

Francis died on January 14, 1977 at Regina Cleri, 4540 Lindell Boulevard in St. Louis, Missouri, at age 73.9,1
His obituary was published in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch newspaper on January 16, 1977.10 His obituary stated:
Blase, Rev. Francis H., fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, Fri., Jan 14, 1977, dear son of the late John and Mathilda Blase, dear brother of John J. Jr., Edward F., Louis F., Lawrence J. Blase the the late William A. Blase, Mrs. Al Castilion and Mrs. George F. Deutschmann, dear brother-in-law, uncle and cousin.
Rev. Blase will lie in state at Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester rd., Kirkwood, 2 p.m. Mon. Visitation will resume at St. Peter Catholic Church, 243 W. Argonne Dr., Kirkwood 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Mon. Funeral Mass 109 a.m., Tues., St. Peter Church. Interment St. Peter Cemetery, Kirkwood. Masses preferred

A newspaper article in St. Louis Post-Dispatch Newspaper dated January 16, 1977 reported Fr. Francis H. Blase Funeral Services. A funeral Mass for The Rev. Francis H. Blase, a Catholic priest who served in several parishes in Missouri, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 243 West Argonne Drive, Kirkwood. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
Father Blase died Friday, apparently of a heart attack, at Regina Cleri, 4540 Lindell Boulevard, a residence for retired priests. He was 73 years old.
Born in St. Louis, Father Blase was graduated from Kenrick Seminary in 1941. He was pastor at churches in several eastern Missouri towns, including Palmyra, Richwoods and New Haven. He was assigned to St. John Nepomuk Church in St. Louis in the early 1950's. After his retirement 10 years ago, he filled in for vacationing priests in several churches in rural areas.
Surviving are four brothers, John J. Jr. of Glendale, Edward F. of Ballwin, Louis F. of St. Louis and Lawrence J. of Kirkwood.9
He was buried in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Kirkwood, St. Louis County, Missouri, It is the request of Father Blase that he be buried from St . Peters Church, Kirkwood. His grave is already reserved in the Priests lot at St. Peters Cemetery. A small tombstone is already erected. Bopp Funeral Home is to have charge of the funeral.8,1
