Yesterday Detectives Littleton and Ranee arrested Louis C. Langhoff, wanted in Algiers on a charge of embezzlement of $10 from A. F. Freiot. According to the story of the officer, some tine ago Langhoff and several others appeared in Algiers and claimed to be canvassers for the Memphis Tuntine and Loan Association of Memphis.
A number of the residents were induced to subscribe to the stock to form a local branch, and the $10 Freiot paid to Langhoff, it is said, was never forwarded to Memphis, hence his arrest.
The prisoner was locked up in the central station, but was subsequently turned over to Sergeant Vogt and taken across the river for trial.5

Louis died on April 8, 1904 at Canal and Fulton in New Orleans, Orleans Parish, Louisiana, at age 38 killed by a streetcar.8
His obituary was published in the New Orleans Times-Picayune on April 9, 1904.7 He was buried on April 9, 1904 in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery in New Orleans, Orleans Parish, Louisiana.9
