He remained at the Trinity Lutheran Church with many friends & enjoyed his retirement. He loved baseball, football & bowling for entertainment. He was buried May 3, 20012 at 3 p.m. in New Collins Cemetery in Alice, TX.

Her obituary was published in the Pittsburg Kansas Morning Sun Newspaper on December 12, 2004.1 Her obituary stated:
LAMAR, Mo. - Norma Jean Arft, 82, of Lamar, died at 6:49 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Mo.
She was born Aug. 5, 1922, in Lamar, to George and Goldie (Layne) Edmonds.
On Dec. 26, 1942 she married Lyle William Arft in Carthage. He preceded her in death Feb. 24, 2002.
She was a lifelong Lamar resident and had been very active in the community. She worked as a customer representative for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for many years and was a member of the Pioneers, a Southwestern Bell retirees group. She and her husband also operated an arts and crafts business.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lamar where she participated in the Prayer Warriors program and the First Baptst Church Craft Club. She was a volunteer for the Barton County United Fund and was a member of the Fiber Art Guild.
Survivors include a daughter, Joleen Barnes of Lamar; a son, Ron Arft of Webb City, Mo; a sister, Betty Heckmaster of Diamond, Mo; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at Daniel Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Hodson officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Daniel Funeral Home of Lamar.
