James served in 1755 in the French and Indian War under Cajptain Ware participating in the battle known as Braddocks defeat..1

Mr. Davis was induced to sell his possessions in Charles County Maryland and went on a prospecting tour to South Carolina, (this was in the year 1743).
Intending to select a location and when this was accomplished to return to Maryland for his family. A few days after his arrival in South Carolina he was seized with some fatal disease and in the short space of twenty four hours death came to his relief."1
