Giovanni married Stella Ghbellini, daughter of Guiseppe "Joseph" Ghbellini and Antonia Righetti, circa 1898 at Sunnyside Settlement, Chicot County, Arkansas.1,2 His wife, Stella, died on December 25, 1931 at age 59. He was the informant on her death certificate.1,4 Giovanni Battista "John" Zulpo was naturalized on April 1, 1946 at the Circuit Court in Rolla, Phelps County, Missouri. He was descripted as 74-years-old with light complection, blue eyes, gre hair, 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighed 115 pounds.5 At the time of his death in 1951, Giovanni resided in Rosati, Phelps County, Missouri.2
Giovanni died on June 27, 1951 at Phelps County Memorial Hospital in Rolla, Phelps County, Missouri, at age 80, Anthony Zulpo was the informant on his death certificate.1,3 His cause of death was cardiac decompensation, artiosclerosis and senility.3 His obituary was published in an unknown newspaper in June, 1951.2 His obituary stated:
John B. Zulpo was born June 24, 1868 (sic) in Italy and passed away June 27, 1951 at the age of 83 years, 3 days. Mr. Zulpo came to America on November 1, 1895 and was one of the first to come to Rosati, Missouri.
He is survived by two daughters Mrs. Joe Brunetti of St. Louis and Mrs. Victor Cenzi of St. James, Missouri and one son, Tony Zulpo of Rosati, Missouri and several grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, June 30, 1951 at 9 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Lambert officiating. Interment in Catholic cemetery, St. James, Missouri under the direction of Gahr Funeral Home.
