She was also a member of the Hawthorn Garden Club, the Republican's Women's Club, the Cole County Historical Society, and the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. before April, 1971.1
Lulu died on April 26, 1971 in Missouri, at age 86.2,1
Her obituary was published in the Daily Capital News on April 27, 1971 at Missouri.1 Her obituary stated:
Mrs. Lula Ann Raithel, 86, of 603 E. High St., died at 6 p.m. at a Jefferson City Hospital where she had been a patient since March 22.
A native of Centertown, Mrs. Raithel was born Dec. 7, 1884, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Pope Blochberger.
On Oct. 23, 1907, at Kansas City, she was married to Joseph L. Raithel, who died Dec. 6, 1939.
Mrs. Raithel attended school at Centertown and had been a resident of Jefferson City most of her life. She was a member of the Central United Church of Christ, the Emma Guhlman Circle, and the Women's Fellowship of that church.
She was also a member of the Hawthorn Garden Club, the Republican Women's Club, the Cole County Historical Society and the Memorial Community Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include two sisters: Mrs. Lydia Whitley, 609 East High St; and Miss Florence Blochberger, 603 E. High St; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at the Buescher Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Robert . Herman officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the Central United Church of Christ have been suggested.
